Interests & Career Goals

My clinical work and research have been broadly dedicated to understanding and reducing suicide risk. Looking ahead, I aim to continue integrating these interests by identifying which components of suicide-focused, evidence-based interventions are most effective for meeting individuals’ unique needs—both as a clinician and as a researcher.

Favorite Pastimes

In my free time, I enjoy various methods of immersing myself in fantasy worlds, ranging from reading and playing video games to participating in D&D campaigns, and sleeping.

Why I Chose Duke

After the interview day, I had a lingering thought that Duke felt as if it had been scientifically engineered in a lab to align with everything I’m looking for—from providing gender-affirming care to practicing full-model DBT. I also connected with Duke’s emphasis on a growth-edge mindset—it aligns with my belief in consistently challenging myself while also recognizing and celebrating growth.

Research Interests

Broadly, I am interested in leveraging ambulatory assessments and multimodal methods to develop an improved understanding of both proximal and distal correlates of self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (SITBs). I am especially interested in examining interpersonal- and structural-level stressors that contribute to elevated SITBs in LGBTQIA+ populations.
