Greetings from Department Chair Dr. Moira Rynn

Thanks for checking out our 2024 digital annual report—we appreciate your interest and support! The stories and stats below provide a glimpse into the myriad ways our exceptional faculty, staff, and trainees are advancing behavioral health in our various communities, from the Duke campus to the Triangle, across the state, and beyond.

The report highlights just a few examples of how our clinicians are providing innovative, compassionate care; how our education programs are helping to develop adaptable, highly skilled psychiatrists and psychologists; and how our researchers are investigating critical questions and addressing pressing behavioral health challenges. And this year, Duke’s Centennial celebration gave us the opportunity to showcase our historical leadership in several key areas—don’t miss the Centennial section at the bottom of this page!

We also have some exciting initiatives on the horizon, including the recently-announced partnership between UNC Health and Duke Health to create the state’s first freestanding children’s hospital, including a much-needed behavioral health center that will offer both inpatient and outpatient care.

I hope you’ll stay in touch by browsing our website, following us on social media, and reaching out to us anytime.

— Moira Rynn, MD, department chair
