Interests and Career Goals

Geriatric psychiatry, health systems research. I conduct research on how to make long-term care less scary and how to support people's mental health as they age and, eventually, die. I hope to pursue a career in academic medicine that allows me to continue that research while maintaining long-term relationships with patients.

Favorite Pastimes

Gardening (I love growing unusual foods and flowers that wouldn't otherwise grow here. I played bass in a bluegrass band through high school and college. I love team sports and can be talked into playing almost anything.

Strengths of the Program

Program leadership: it's a large part of why I came. I felt immensely confident walking out of my interviews with them and they can continue to be strong advocates and supporters since then

Research and clinical excellence: Duke provides exceptional clinical and research training. I didn't have to choose to prioritize one or the other by coming here.

Areas of Prior Research

Long-term care, health services, health policy, palliative care, physician management practices.
