Strengths of the Program

1) My favorite aspect of training at Duke is being surrounded by intensely passionate, authentic people.

2) The culture of inclusion at Duke is tangible. People here look and act differently and are celebrated for it. I continue to be surprised by the extent to which vulnerability and enthusiasm are welcomed here, and by how much I learn from the genuine self-expression of my peers, patients, and teachers.

3) Wellness goes beyond a set of initiatives in our department; it is a value. I've lost count of how many times program leadership have randomly checked in to see how I'm doing and of how many times attendings have offered to share work so that I could spend time learning, being with patients, accessing healthcare, or getting home on time to my family.

Areas of Prior Research

Neuro-oncology, cellular senescence, vagus nerve stimulation
