Interests & Career Goals

Broadly, my clinical and research interests are focused on how youth engage with their social supports (such as their caregivers and peers) to help improve their emotional well-being — a process otherwise known as interpersonal emotion regulation. I am passionate about working with youth and families experiencing concerns related to emotional dysregulation, anxiety and depression, and comorbidities spanning from neurodevelopmental concerns (e.g., ADHD) to disordered eating. I aspire to pursue a career as a child/adolescent clinical psychologist where I can integrate clinical practice and research. Additionally, I am eager to remain involved in teaching and mentoring future generations of clinicians as a clinical supervisor.

Favorite Pastimes

In my free time, you can likely find me searching for more plants to adopt into my home, going to concerts and stand-up shows, and most importantly, taking pictures of food/drinks at new spots before digging in.

Why I Chose Duke

In addition to the evident compassion and brilliance that the clinical supervisors embody, Duke is outstanding in its variety of high-quality training experiences in multidisciplinary treatment settings. At Duke, I will be able to advance my goals on internship to gain both breadth and depth in my clinical training. Beyond the competencies that I am excited to develop in conducting pediatric neuropsychological assessments, I am eager to learn other modalities of family-focused interventions with diverse presenting concerns, thus complementing my prior clinical experiences working with youth and families.

Research Interests

My research focuses on the link between adolescent interpersonal emotion regulation and emotional well-being, including short-term, everyday emotions and the long-term development of psychopathology, such as depression and anxiety. Guided by my training in clinical and developmental psychology, I value using ecologically valid measures (i.e., EMA) to examine youths’ emotional development within real-world social contexts, which are dynamic and overlapping across systems of influence (self, family, peers). Thus, using advanced statistical methods, such as multilevel modeling, to examine intensive longitudinal data is central to my research.
