Interests and Career Goals

I am primarily interested in working with traumatized youth and their families. My long-term career goal is to work in an academic-medical setting as a clinical psychologist specializing in child and adolescent populations and supporting survivors of child abuse and neglect. Throughout my career, I would also like to continue conducting research and advocating for patients and families that are in need of equitable mental health care.

Favorite Pastimes

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, weightlifting and playing with my dogs.

Why I Chose Duke

I chose Duke’s pre-doctoral internship because the program provides a wide range of training opportunities that can refine interns’ skills in assessment, case conceptualization, and intervention. I was specifically interested in the Child-Trauma track because of the use of evidence-based trauma-focused interventions for children, adolescents, and their families. Additionally, I enjoyed meeting the various supervisors and faculty members during the interview process who were passionate, supportive, and dedicated to building trainees’ multicultural competency.

Research Interests

Anxiety disorders in Black Americans, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), intergenerational trauma, relational attachment
