Fariha graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Health Policy and Management from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her undergraduate studies, she began her journey as a birth doula at UNC Hospitals and was a research assistant for both an eating disorders and perinatal mood disorders’ lab. She is a firm believer that effective policy changes can address the social and structural determinants underlying maternal health disparities. As an aspiring physician scientist, she plans to intersect her clinical experience, research, and passion for advocacy to drive systemic change that improves women’s health through policy. Fariha is thrilled to be a part of the center and contribute to its initiatives.
