Caroline Dorfman Appointed Co-Director of Division of Behavioral Medicine & Neuroscience

Associate professor Caroline Dorfman, PhD, has been appointed co-director of the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Neurosciences in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences.

Dorfman is a successfully funded researcher with a focus on psychosocial and psychological interventions for patients with cancer, cancer survivors, and their families. She is also a member of the Duke Cancer Institute, where she has served since 2020 as the director of research and behavioral medicine for Duke’s Teen and Young Adult Oncology Program.  

In her new role, Dorfman and her division co-director Jeannie Beckham, PhD, will provide leadership and oversight for the division across our missions. Together, they’ll lead strategic planning, financial oversight, and development of research and training, as well as support faculty development. 

The co-director role was previously filled on an interim basis by Moira Rynn, MD, the department chair and J.P. Gibbons Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
