Interests and Career Goals

I am broadly interested in what happens after someone experiences trauma and/or complex trauma. In other words, I am interested in posttraumatic processes and symptoms, evidence-based interventions, recovery, and growth. Additionally, I am interested in adapting, disseminating, and implementing evidence-based treatments cross-culturally and with minorities and marginalized populations. In the future, I hope to establish a research and clinical center in my home country that focuses on studying and treating trauma-related and anxiety disorders in the region.

Favorite Pastimes

I enjoy spending time with friends, taking walks and hikes, listening to and learning music, and watching late-night talk shows and TV series.

Why I Chose Duke

I chose Duke due to the breadth and depth of clinical training it offers and the remarkable record it has pertaining to cross-cultural and global mental health research. This year, I am looking forward to deepening my clinical and research experience in evidence-based treatments (e.g. Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Exposure-Based and Mindfulness-Based Interventions) in service of a diverse population across multiple settings. Duke offers the perfect opportunity to achieve that goal and work with a team of experts that would help me grow personally and professionally to become a local clinical scientist.
