Interests & Career Goals

I am interested in working with children, adolescents, and families with a history of trauma. My long-term career goal is to work in an academic medical setting as a child clinical psychologist specializing in trauma and working with racial minority populations. I also hope to continue conducting research and, ultimately, combat racial and ethnic disparities in mental health through my work.

Favorite Pastimes

I enjoy traveling to new places, trying diverse foods, learning languages, reading, and writing poetry.

Why I Chose Duke

I chose Duke because of the possibilities and people. At Duke, I have opportunities to refine my skills in assessment, case conceptualization, and intervention. I was specifically interested in the Child-Trauma track because of the use of evidence-based trauma-focused interventions for children, adolescents, and their families. Additionally, I am thrilled to be able to expand my competencies with different populations through the completion of multiple minor rotations. Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with Duke staff during the interview process. It’s evident that they are committed to their trainee’s experiences and growth and welcome collaboration.

Research Interests

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), chronic stress, intergenerational trauma, racial stressors, health disparities, and depression and anxiety in Black Americans
