Interests & Career Goals

I am passionate about inclusive and equitable whole-person care which has fostered a primary interest in pediatric psychology and a specialty interest in pediatric gender health. My ideal career would allow me to balance evidence-based treatment, assessment, and individually oriented advocacy in a multidisciplinary medical setting while also being actively involved in collaborative research to stimulate system-level changes.

Favorite Pastimes

I love being active, whether that be running, taking group fitness classes, hiking, or going for walks. Otherwise, you will most likely find me binge-watching the newest TV shows with my husband (and cat) or listening to investigative journalism podcasts!

Why I Chose Duke

The Child-Pediatrics track at Duke provides the perfect mix of opportunities that allow me to further develop my skills as a culturally responsive pediatric psychologist. During the interview process, I could tell that supervisors are genuinely passionate about mentoring the next generation of clinical/pediatric psychologists and are very supportive of trainee’s short- and long-term training/career goals. As a scientist-practitioner, I also appreciate that the program provides opportunities for collaborative research during the internship year that allow trainees to function at the forefront of both, clinical care and research. Lastly, being proud to call North Carolina my chosen home, I was excited about the opportunity to join a nationally recognized medical center in its mission to provide excellent care to the diverse people of North Carolina, a population I envision to continue to serve in clinical practice and research.

Research Interests

Shaped by my clinical training in transdiagnostic and process-based CBT, part of my predoctoral research has focused on the role of transdiagnostic vulnerabilities for dating violence perpetration with the overall goal of identifying new prevention and intervention targets. My latest research, including my dissertation, combines my passion for both quantitative psychology and equity, and is aimed at improving dating violence prevention efforts for LGBTQ+ people.
