Mehul Mankad, MD (GME '02), is Chief Medical Officer of Alliance Health, the Medicaid managed care organization that serves urban regions of North Carolina. Dr. Mankad is leading the clinical approach for reintegration of behavioral and physical health services for individuals served by Alliance. This "Tailored Plan" model will combine healthcare services delivery, pharmacy benefits, and data-driven care management under a singular design structured to improve healthcare quality and stabilize cost for individuals with serious mental illness and intellectual/developmental disability. Prior to his role at Alliance Health, Dr. Mankad was a regular rank faculty member at Duke University in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He was also a staff psychiatrist at the Durham VA Health Care System. In these capacities, he served as Director of Psychiatry and Law at Duke and Chief of Psychiatry at the VA.
