Community Views of Neurodiversity and Intervention: Mixed Methods Reveal Shared Goals and Key Tensions

Please join us for the next presentation in our 2023 - 2024 Duke Center for Autism Seminar Series! Our presenter will be Patrick Dwyer, PhD, Research Fellow at the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (OTARC) at La Trobe University in Australia. Dr. Dwyer is a Canadian autistic researcher who completed his PhD in developmental psychology at UC Davis in 2023. His research is particularly focused on how autistic people experience and attend to the world around them, and especially on autistic experiences of sensory distress and discomfort. In addition, he has a strong interest in important topical issues in the autism community, including the neurodiversity movement and the politics of intervention. Dr. Dwyer is a member of the Australasian Autism Research Council (AARC, pronounced "Arc") and is part of INSAR's membership committee. He is also a member of the ANSWER Leadership group of the Autism Intervention Research Network for Physical Health (AIR-P).
