Binge Eating Disorder and Comorbid Conditions: Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Challenges

Dr. Rydin-Gray is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke School of Medicine. She specializes in the treatment of binge eating disorder, comorbid psychiatric conditions, and weight management. Her main therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with elements of Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Her research has focused on understanding the immediate and distal triggers of binge eating using ecological momentary assessment, transcranial magnetic stimulation on food cravings, and behavioral weight loss interventions. Clinical and leadership experiences include providing evidence-based assessments and interventions to patients at Duke Lifestyle and Weight Management Center, directing the Behavioral Health Department, and providing supervision for Duke Psychiatry Residents and pre-doctoral interns. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University in 2007 and she is a Licensed Psychologist and certified Health Services Provider in NC. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Duke Diet and Fitness Center in 2009 and her clinical internship in Behavioral Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007.
