There are several resources at Duke for patients living with serious illness and their family members to receive psychological support.

Duke Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences

Mental health providers offer evidence-based, patient-centered outpatient clinical services to meet the behavioral health care needs of patients and their families.

Duke Palliative Care

Duke Palliative Care providers offer an "extra layer of support" to patients with serious illnesses and their family members. They provide pain and symptom management, psychosocial support, goals of care clarification, and Advance Care planning.

Duke Cancer Patient Support Program

The Duke Cancer Patient Support Program offers a range of services for cancer patients receiving care at Duke and their family members including cancer support groups and individual, couple, and family therapy. Other services available include nutrition, physical rehabilitation, and smoking cessation. 

Pastoral Services

Chaplains are available  to offer spiritual and emotional support to people of all faiths and belief systems.

Duke Integrative Medicine

Duke Integrative Medicine offers a variety of services and programs  to improve how your physical body interacts with your psychological and emotional well-being. These include psychotherapy, acupuncture, nutrition, massage, yoga, and mindfulness.
