Interests and Career Goals

My interests include psychotic disorders, mood disorders, community psychiatry, and global mental health. My career goals include working as a psychiatrist (in an acute care setting and a neurotherapeutics clinic), engaging in global mental health research, and offering pro bono policy work for governments and NGOs.

Favorite Pastimes

Singing (I wanted to become an opera singer before I decided to study medicine), cycling, being outside, hiking, traveling and board games with friends

Strengths of the Program

Training in four different facilities (Duke University, Durham V.A. Health Facility, Duke Regional Hospital, Central Regional Hospital); front-loaded program allows for more flexibility towards the end of the program; physician-scientist track; strong and diverse mentorship opportunities.

Research Interests

Imaging-Genetics (in patients with psychotic disorders); emotional dysregulation (such as fear conditioning and generalization); MRI (sMRI, fMRI, PASL) and community psychiatry/global mental health (designing community-based mental health interventions; what can we learn from low- and middle-income countries in high-income countries such as the US).
